The Camões - Portuguese Cultural Center in Maputo, the Portuguese Language Center at the Pedagogical University of Maputo (UP-Maputo) and the Faculty of Language Sciences, Communication and Arts at UP-Maputo are promoting, between September 28th and November 18th, the 19th Edition of the Camões Eloquence Prize.

According to the statement sent to our newsroom, the Camões Eloquence Prize 2022 will be developed in three stages. In the first phase, which will take place between September 28th and October 28th, the best argumentative texts/discourses produced by undergraduate students will be accepted and selected.

In a second phase, says the document, which will take place between November 14 and 17, the authors of the ten best texts will participate in an Orality Workshop led by actress Ana Magaia. On November 18, will be held at the Portuguese Cultural Center in Maputo, the grand final of the Camões Eloquence Prize, where the winning speeches will be determined.

The statement also said that university students who have not participated in previous editions may apply by presenting speeches not exceeding 400 words on topics such as (i) gender equality, (ii) environmental sanitation and preservation, (iii) social networks, technologies and their role in the education of young people, and (iv) the contribution of young people to the development of Mozambique and social welfare.

The winners of the Camões Eloquence Prize 2022 will receive, in addition to training in oratory technique given by the actress Ana Magaia, monetary prizes and educational material.
