PR goes to Parliament this Wednesday for the report on the General State of the Nation

PR vai ao Parlamento esta quarta-feira para o informe sobre o Estado Geral da Nação

This Wednesday, the President of the Republic, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, will address the Assembly of the Republic to report on the General State of the Nation.

In his report to the nation, Filipe Nyusi will share the general situation of the country, highlighting the progress and constraints of the year that is about to end, challenges and prospects.

The country is living under high tension, with political, social, economic and other problems.

The kidnapping industry continues to worry the business community, and Mozambicans in particular, given that this phenomenon has tended to intensify in recent months, but little is known about the perpetrators of these crimes.

The government is facing serious problems when it comes to paying civil servants' salaries, with systematic delays and no clear explanation.

Health professionals, including doctors, are dissatisfied with the working conditions and salaries they are offered. Throughout the year we've seen strikes by these professionals demanding better conditions.

The issue of the Single Salary Table (TSU), introduced by the government to eliminate asymmetries and keep the state wage bill under control, was the great frustration of the bulk of civil servants.

What's more, to this day, many of the employees are waiting for the back pay they were promised, which never made it into their accounts.

Crime levels and murders continue to rise and are a cause for concern within society.

In the political sphere, the country is tense. There is an unusual level of political intolerance. The latest local elections have demonstrated this unequivocally.

There is widespread social dissatisfaction among the population. The cost of living is rising. At the same time, there is uncertainty about the future.

Even with relative stability, from the point of view of combat results, the war in Cabo Delgado continues to cause insecurity and forced displacement of thousands of people, including children, according to UNHCR data.

It should be noted that this will be President Filipe Nyusi's ninth report on the general situation of the nation.

In 2022, the Head of State characterized the country's general situation as one of "stabilization and renewed optimism in the face of internal and external challenges".
