The government announced today in Maputo that it has authorized the Port of Maputo concessionaire to invest more than two billion dollars, and extended the concession contract for another 25 years, starting in 2033.
The investments are intended to increase the port infrastructure's cargo handling capacity and are part of the concessionaire's business plan.
"The Decree authorizes the Concessionaire to make additional investments in the Port Concession Area to the value of two thousand and sixty million US Dollars (USD 2,060,000,000), approves the terms of the Fourth Addendum to the Concession Contract signed on 22 September 2000 under Decree no. 22/2000, of 25 July, and extends the concession of the Port of Maputo for 25 years from 2033″, reads the communiqué from the first session of the Council of Ministers.º 22/2000, of July 25, and extends the concession of the Port of Maputo for 25 years, starting in 2033″, reads the communiqué from the first session of the Council of Ministers this year, sent to the media.
