The four new tolls on the Maputo ring road will generate about 550 direct jobs, and candidates for the respective job vacancies are already being trained, the Minister of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources said Tuesday in Maputo.
Joao Machatine was speaking after the 2nd Session of the Council of Ministers, having recalled that the Government has invested about 19.2 billion meticais for the construction of the Maputo ring road.
The project was being implemented by the now extinct state company Maputo-Sul, which at the end of the works, proved incapable of continuing with the work, forcing the Government to resort to other funding for the completion of the road.
The road concession was given to a private company Mozambique Road Network SA (REVIMO)This was created by the Road Fund, following the disappearance of Maputo-Sul.
REVIMO is said to have mobilized 102.4 billion meticais for the completion of the Road, namely, the construction of the No de Tchumene, installation of tolls and public lighting in some sections.
