Pathfinder International has ordered the dismissal, with immediate effect, of the organization's senior management team in Mozambique, accused of committing various irregularities that violate the organization's rules.
These are the Country Director, Mahomed Riaz Mobaracaly; the HIV and Project Director; a Human Resources employee; another from the Administration department; and one from the Policy and Compliance Sector, among others, whose names we decline to disclose.
The organization that works in the sexual and reproductive health and rights sector around the world has proceeded with the resignations due to various accusations, among them those of violating internal policies of the organization, namely Global Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy, (2) Conflict of Interest Policy, Whistleblower and Whistleblower Protection Policy, Procurement Policy, and Policy on Retention and Use of Legal Counsel and Advice with the Chief Legal Officer.
Our source indicates that Pathfinder International sent its Chief Financial Officer, Chad Snelgar, to Mozambique to carry out the termination of contracts. The layoffs reportedly occurred between January 25 and 26.
The portal letter says this is a summary dismissal, since no investigation, inquiry, or inquiry into their management procedures was opened, while they were barred from exercising their right to defend their honor, through adversarial proceedings. Acting as it did, Pathfinder assumed the role of "investigator."
A letter writes that the treatment given to these Mozambican cadres was humiliating. "After the expulsion order, they were escorted to the exit of the premises by three burly, intimidating individuals who were strangers to the organization, without permission to collect their belongings and photographed without their consent."
