Ossufo Momade confirma encerramento da última base militar da Renamo

The leader of the Mozambican National Resistance (Renamo), Ossufo Momade, confirmed on Wednesday that the headquarters - the party's last military base - in the Gorongosa mountains, in Sofala province, will soon be closed.

"The base is going to be demobilized, and those who are there are going to be demobilized. Everyone will go to their own village. From then on it will be the obligation of the government of the day to pay the pensions of all those demobilized. It's the right," said Momade, speaking to journalists after a meeting in Maputo with the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Maputo.

Recently, the Renamo leader held a meeting with the President of the Republic, where it was learned that the parties plan to close the military base later this year and start compensating party members.

The religious leader, Dom Tonito Muananoa, advocates permanent dialogue to achieve and maintain peace in the country.

"At this meeting, we shared issues that concern society. We pointed out the way to solve these issues that involve preserving peace, that help us preserve peace," he said.
