"Mozambique is not prepared to subsidize the fuel sector" - Luísa Diogo

Former Prime Minister says the country is not yet in a position to subsidize the fuel sector, due to constant pressure on the state budget.

Luísa Diogo, who is also an economist, says that because the country is dependent on imports in the oil market, it had no choice but to raise fuel prices to stabilize the market.

Diogo was speaking last Friday in Maputo at the launch of the third edition of the Total Energies start-up award.

In relation to the abundant gas in the country, Luísa Diogo says that Mozambicans need to be patient so that they can enjoy this fuel.

The Energy Regulatory Authority justified the fuel price hike with the upward revision of the price of crude oil and its derivatives in the international market.
