The Mozambican government in Moscow today invited Russian oil companies to participate in the sixth international hydrocarbon tender, to be launched in December, for the development of projects in the sector in the African country, reports Lusa.
Carlos Zacarias, president of the National Petroleum Institute (INP), told journalists that the country will be open to evaluating proposals for the concession of hydrocarbon exploration blocks from Russian companies such as Gazprom, Rosnef and Zarubezhneft and from oil companies from other countries participating in the sixth international hydrocarbon tender.
Despite growing international pressure to abandon the use of fossil fuels,
Everything leads one to believe that hydrocarbons continue to be an important bet for the development of the Mozambican economy.
Besides, the INP responsible referred that the country will continue to promote its potentialities in the hydrocarbon area, mainly in gas, because this resource is important for the energy transition, given that it is the less pollutant among the fossils.
It should be noted that Mozambique already has the presence of several multinational oil companies, mainly in the Rovuma basin, an area rich in natural gas and which is being targeted by insurgents.
