Malaysia kicks off construction of world's second tallest building

Malásia arranca com a construção do segundo edifício mais alto do mundo

The building will be 678.9 meters high and 118 stories high, and is scheduled for completion in the 2nd half of 2022. It is a project that will include residential properties, commercial spaces, and a hotel.

To be erected in downtown Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the building features a triangular glass facade inspired by the art patterns of this Southeast Asian country.

According to Archdaily, five years after construction began, Australian studio Fender Katsalidis has revealed the final silhouette of the tower, which will redefine the city skyline currently dominated by the Petronas Towers and the Kuala Lumpur Tower.

"Our priority was to respect the site and take every opportunity to create a tower that would enhance the social energy and cultural fabric of the city," revealed Karl Fender, founding partner of Fender Katsalidis, adding the "tower is located in an area that marks Malaysia's August 1957 Declaration of Independence."
