More than 56,000 people from 29 countries have already benefited from the electronic visa for tourism and business purposes since the implementation of measure 13 of the Economic Acceleration Package (EAP) began in December 2022 until last March.

This measure allows visa exemptions for citizens of 29 countries and permits foreign investors to enter the country for longer periods, with the aim of making their stay more flexible, enhancing the Mozambique brand, making the destination country more competitive and increasing the flow of tourists.

The measures in the SAP revolve around two main areas: a tax and economic stimulus package and measures to improve the business environment, good governance and transparency.

According to the most recent balance sheet quoted by NewsDuring this period, approved foreign investment increased by thirty percent to an estimated 16.7 million dollars.

At the top of the list of countries benefiting from electronic visas are India, Pakistan and Brazil. The countries benefiting from visa waivers are Portugal, China and the United States of America (USA).

It should be noted that it is in view of the indicators of the evolution of tourist movement that it is now proposed to extend the countries covered by the visa exemption, in order to focus on new segments, improve the quality of the destination, as well as create greater ease and mobility for tourists and visitors wishing to visit the country for tourism and business purposes.
