The president of the Democratic Movement of Mozambique (MDM), Lutero Simango, warns that Mozambique runs the risk of waking up one day divided if Frelimo, the ruling party, doesn't take dialogue seriously in order to put an end to the political and social crisis resulting from the non-acceptance of the results of the October 9 general elections.
According to the MDM leader, quoted by RFIIn order to resolve the problems that led Mozambique to the post-election crisis, inclusive political dialogue must be serious and objective.
"If Frelimo wants to play around like it has with so many other agreements, we run the risk of waking up one day with the country totally divided and we are not for dividing the country. We are for national unity in diversity, we are for a unitary state, but this necessarily involves solving the problems, so this inclusive national political dialogue must be seen very seriously," stressed Lutero Simango.
In addition, Lutero Simango gives a negative assessment of Daniel Chapo's 100 days in office as President of the Republic.
"The cost of living is still high, we still don't have functioning public transport and LAM has already shown what it is in recent days. Wages are not enough to meet the cost of living. Our schools are still in the same situation, the hospitals are still perhaps in the worst situation, but to say that the 100 days have not taken the necessary steps to signal a solution to the problems affecting Mozambicans. The 100 days have passed without managing to renegotiate at least one project," said Simango.
For the president of the MDM, the fourth largest parliamentary party, it was possible to lower the cost of living in Mozambique in 100 days of government.
Lutero Simango also expressed concern about the attack on several vehicles last Tuesday (08) in Sofala province. The opposition leader said in the city of Beira, in Sofala, considered a party stronghold, that this type of attack is "a threat to everyone".
The incident in question, which did not involve any casualties, occurred when six men intercepted two trucks and set them on fire, resulting in a total of seven vehicles catching fire in the Maringue district, in a former area of confrontation with Renamo.
For the MDM leader, the solution to the problem lies in inclusive and objective political dialog. "That's why we hope that the inclusive political dialog is very serious, very objective and has to solve these problems," he concluded.
