LAM retoma voos na rota Maputo-Lisboa a partir de hoje

Today, Mozambique Airlines (LAM) resumes flights on the Maputo-Lisbon route, 12 years later, in partnership with Portugal's Euro Atlântico.

The flights will last an average of 10 or 11 hours, with the inaugural flight departing from the Portuguese city this evening. There will be three flights a week using a Boeing 777-200, with capacity for 320 passengers.

Speaking from Portugal, LAM's Project and Restructuring Manager, Sérgio Matos, explained that the partnership is aimed at LAM paying for the number of hours worked by the aircraft.

"So far the contract is being fully complied with. In fact, the owner of the operation is the Mozambican airline," he said, quoted by Radio MozambiqueHe stressed that all the logistics were LAM's responsibility. "We have already secured it".

Since the opening of ticket sales, LAM has sold around 12,000 tickets, with reservations until October 2024, according to Sérgio Matos, speaking at a press conference last week in Maputo.

In addition to the Maputo-Lisbon route, the Mozambican flag carrier has new routes in the pipeline linking Maputo to different points in South Africa, especially Cape Town.
