The Italian government announced today, Monday (08), that it will provide 35 million euros for the construction of an Agricultural Center for Food Processing in Manica, in central Mozambique.
According to Italy's Director General for Cooperation and Development, Stefano Gatti, after signing the agreement with the Minister of Economy and Finance, Ernesto Max Tonela, the work should start next year and the funding includes the training of Mozambican staff who will be involved in the initiative.
"This is the first step in a long-term collaboration in the food sector and its processing, where we will bring to Mozambique the experience of Italy, which is considered a world power in this sector," said Stefano Gatti.
On the same occasion, Max Tondela said that this initiative is part of the measures the two governments have been taking to strengthen existing historical relations and the efforts the two governments are making to accelerate economic cooperation, a commitment made in July 2022, when the Italian head of state, Sergio Mattarela, visited the country.
