The Italian government has announced that 4 million euros will be made available to finance actions aimed at integrating rural women in the province of Manica into the productive value chain.
The money will go to the "Women in Sustainability" project, which is being implemented in the districts of Báruè, Macossa, Guro and Tambara, and will cover 160 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) run by women and 80 small commercial producers.
The three-year project aims to train 800 rural women in innovation and entrepreneurship in the agri-food and rural tourism sectors.
The Secretary of State in Manica province, Fernando Bemane, quoted by Radio MozambiqueHe stressed the importance of the initiative in promoting peace and sustainable development.
For his part, the director of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, Paolo Sertoli, said that the project aims to strengthen cooperation between Mozambique and Italy, by strengthening the technical capacity of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
