INTIC and Yango discuss regulation of digital platforms in Mozambique

INTIC e Yango discutem regulação das plataformas digitais em Moçambique

The National Institute of Information and Communication Technology (INTIC) and Yango exchanged views on Tuesday (02) on the need to adapt the country's legal framework to the new technologies sector and the digital economy.

During the meeting, INTIC defended the need to widely disseminate the country's existing legislation on digital platforms, including app-based urban mobility services. According to INTIC's Chairman of the Board of Directors, Lourino Chemane, "there is already a regulation approved by the Assembly of the Republic on this matter", emphasizing that INTIC is the only institution with the authority to regulate digital platforms in Mozambique.

For his part, the Director General of Yango in Mozambique, Zameer Adam, called for the dissemination of the existing law for the digital platform sector so that "other public sector institutions understand the legal framework in force, and thus avoid possible misunderstandings".

"Yango is available at all times, not only to clarify any doubts the authorities may have about our field of action, but also to actively participate alongside Mozambican institutions in this great challenge, contributing its experience in the more than 20 international markets where it operates in Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East," said Zameer Adam.
