Inhambane registered 44,000 more voters than expected by INE

Inhambane recenseou 44 mil eleitores acima do previsto pelo INE

The province of Inhambane, in the south of the country, has already registered 44,000 more voters than expected by the National Statistics Institute (INE), which suggests that there has been strong evidence of phantom voter registration, in a reproduction of the Gaza model in 2019.

According to a bulletin from the Center for Public Integrity (CIP), the published data shows that the vast majority of districts in Inhambane province, with the exception of two, have already exceeded INE's projections.

"As of April 20, the data released by the electoral administration authorities show that Inhambane province has registered 512,578 voters, surpassing the planned target of 468,441," says the same publication, noting that in percentage terms, Inhambane has registered 109% of the planned voters.

According to CIP, the only districts that haven't yet managed to exceed 100% are Morrumbene (97.9%) and Vilankulo (92.1%). The rest of the districts have passed the 100% mark. The most notable are the districts of Mabote (136%), Zavala (127%) and Homoine (121%).

Thus, by April 28, all of Inhambane's districts may have exceeded all of INE's forecasts and some may be close to doubling the government's projections. This is the case of Mabote, which has already registered 40,200 voters out of a projected 29,500 voters.
