IGEPE wants to audit 24 state-owned companies

IGEPE quer auditar 24 empresas estatais

The Institute for the Management of State Holdings (IGEPE), the entity that manages the state business sector (SEE) in Mozambique, will audit the accounts of 24 state-owned companies from 2020 to 2023, the entity announced.

According to a notice published today in Notícias, and consulted by Lusa, the IGEPE is inviting audit firms to submit proposals to analyze the SEE's consolidated financial statements and reports.

The IGEPE also asks that "possible weaknesses in the process of consolidating the SEE's accounts" be identified and that "recommendations for improvement" be produced

The 24 or so companies to be audited are active in telecommunications, agriculture, oil and gas, health, services and transportation, according to Lusa.

It should be noted that last year, the government and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreed to strengthen the supervision and management of companies in the business sector and improve debt control, as part of the financial assistance program of 470 million dollars until 2025.
