Government wants to stop cashew nut smuggling on the Mozambique-Tanzania border

Governo quer acabar com contrabando de castanha de caju na fronteira que liga Moçambique-Tanzânia

Cabo Delgado Government reinforces control of movement at the Rovuma border, to stop cashew nut smuggling.

To this end, the checkpoints along the border line, which have been deactivated due to insecurity in the region because of the terrorist attacks, will be reinstalled.

The reopening of inspection posts was a matter touched upon by the Provincial Executive Council meeting this week in its eighteenth ordinary session of the body.

Available information indicates that in the current agrarian harvest alone, more than seven thousand two hundred tons of cashew nuts illegally left the country for the United Republic of Tanzania through the Rovuma border.
