The government today appointed Helena Maria Lopes Fernandes Tomás to the post of Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Communications Institute (INCM), replacing Tuaha Mote, who has since been dismissed.
The information was given today, Tuesday (09), by the spokesman for the Council of Ministers, Filimão Suaze, after the 20th ordinary session.
At the time, Filimão Suaze did not give any reasons for Tuaha Mote's dismissal from the INCM, but this decision comes almost two months after hundreds of young Mozambicans marched in Maputo against an INCM resolution establishing new minimum tariffs for telecommunications services, including voice, messaging and data.
"The regulator is suspending the measure while it improves the studies, so that we can make decisions that are more in line with the demands of the market and public interests," said the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, Amilton Alissone, at a press conference after the weekly session of the Council of Ministers, stressing that: "we will return to the previous situation as far as tariffs are concerned, while the regulator refines the studies."
Meanwhile, at the same session today, the Council of Ministers also announced the dismissal of the PCAs of the Aeroportos de Moçambique company, Américo Muchanga, who has also left INCM, and of the National Road Transport Institute (INATRO), Chinguane Mabote, replaced by Nelson Mário Monteiro Nunes.
