Government consults citizens about public transportation fare

Governo ausculta cidadãos sobre tarifa do transporte público

The Government, represented by Fundo de Desenvolvimento dos Transportes e Comunicações in coordination with the Municipal Council of Maputo City, is today, Friday, in the capital of the country, listening to the citizens about the proposal to increase the fare of public passenger transport in the country.

The initiative aims to gauge the feelings of citizens, following the request for a fare increase, formulated a few days ago by the transporters, with the argument that the rise in fuel prices has made business unsustainable.

It should be noted that the government met this Thursday in Maputo city with members of the Mozambican Road Transport Carriers Federation (FEMATRO) to discuss the proposals.

FEMATRO vice president Sancho Mavunja told Domingo, without going into details, that the Government's counter proposal is 40% below the one presented by the transporters.
