The Prime Minister, Adriano Maleiane, challenges entrepreneurs in Gaza province to invest in rice and vegetable processing, in order to avoid post-harvest waste and stimulate local production.
Adriano Maleiane said it is a business role to invest in agro-processing, in order to close the value chain of agricultural production.
Maleiane was thus reacting to information from the Executive Council of Gaza province, reporting the existence of huge quantities of rice in the hands of producers, in the districts of Bilene and Chókwè, due to lack of buyers.
"The concept of value chain, the farmer when producing his production has to have the buyer already a priority, so we have to have a contract system in place. Sometimes this does not happen because where there is rice, it is assumed that there is an agro-processing company, and then the private sector is also invited because the State will not bring this," said Maleiane, quoted by Radio Mozambique.
Yesterday, the last day of his visit to Gaza, the Prime Minister visited the Nguluzane agro-livestock company in Xai-Xai, the works of the Limpopo district court and the Chibuto heavy sands mining company.
