More than 20 Mozambican companies from various sectors, especially agriculture, industry, transport, logistics, labor recruitment, communication, commerce and services, are taking part in the Business Mission to Doha, Qatar, which has been taking place since Saturday (14)..

During this trip, which ends today (17), the Mozambican business community aims to attract new investments and strategic partnerships to boost trade relations between Mozambique and Qatar.

During a Qatar-Mozambique Business and Investment Forum, which took place on Sunday in Doha, the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA), the country's largest employers' organization, presented investment opportunities in Mozambique in various sectors, especially Industry, Agriculture and Tourism.

With regard to the industry sector, the President of CTA, Agostinho Vuma, highlighted the presence at the Forum of MozParks, which leads the industrial parks in Mozambique, which have already attracted and absorbed more than 2 billion dollars in investments. In the labor recruitment sector, he highlighted the participation of CBE Southern Africa, which brought opportunities to supply labor for various projects based in Qatar.

Vuma also highlighted opportunities for investment and the export of agricultural products. "Mozambique has cheap and competitive conditions (land and water) to produce and supply organic products in a short space of time and the opportunities are there," he said.

The CTA and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) will therefore work together to promote the interests of local companies and to sign agreements for joint projects between Mozambican and Qatari companies.

In agribusiness, Agostinho Vuma revealed the availability of 700 hectares in the districts of Boane and Namaacha, Maputo province, where 135 hectares of planted bananas produce more than 5,500 tons a year and around 80 hectares of citrus fruits produce around 100 tons of star ruby grapefruit, 100 tons of marsh grapefruit and 200 tons of valencia and delta oranges.

"We would like to discuss with the entrepreneurs, during the B2B, how we can materialize these investment opportunities that exist in our country," said Vuma.

The mission is organized by CTA, in partnership with the Mozambican Embassy in Qatar, APIEX - Mozambique's Investment and Export Promotion Agency, QCCI - Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as QFC - Qatar Financial Centre.
