Portuguese contractor gets more money for dredging at Cabinda port

Empreiteira portuguesa recebe mais dinheiro para dragagem no porto de Cabinda

The growing deterioration of the macroeconomy in Angola led the President of the Republic to order an increase of about 241 million meticals to the dredging contract in the port of Cabinda, under the responsibility of the Portuguese group Mota-Engil, even without making known the value of the contract signed previously.

"The worsening of macroeconomic conditions led to a financial-economic imbalance of the contract," reads the addendum in the form of a presidential order signed by João Lourenço, dated January 6, 2022.

According to the same document, from the date of signing the first contract, of which the amount for the contract is still unknown, to the present day, there has been a significant change in the scenario "on which the parties based their decision to contract," and therefore there is a need for an addendum to the contract, worth 2.1 billion kwanzas.

In two other presidential dispatches, the President of the Republic authorizes the opening of two public tenders.

One of the tenders for the construction and equipping of the Conventional Sanitary Landfill in Cabinda Province, worth 4.4 billion kwanzas (511.350 million meticais), and for the construction of 43 elevated water tanks with a capacity of 100 cubic meters in Cabinda Province, worth 2.5 billion kwanzas (292.200 million meticais).

The other tender is for the facilities of the General Inspection of State Administration including the rehabilitation of the Muxima Plaza Building, worth an estimated 4.7 billion kwanzas (555.180 million meticais), and the acquisition of furniture and computer equipment, for 3.7 billion kwanzas (423.690 million meticais).
