The Mozambique Electricity Company (EDM) revealed today that it has registered, from January to date, losses of around 95 million meticais, due to the vandalizing of electrical equipment.

According to the Director of Revenue Protection and Loss Control at EDM, Amilton Alisson, there are cases of children being involved in acts of vandalizing electrical equipment that sometimes end in deaths.

"To contain the acts of sabotage, Electricidade de Moçambique has been reinforcing protection teams throughout the country," said Amilton Alisson.

Meanwhile, according to EDM, although the damage is still extensive, the cases of vandalism of electrical equipment tend to reduce.
