Mozambique's Confederation of Business Associations (CTA), the largest business organization, said that the easing of restrictions related to the prevention of covid-19 could boost the recovery of economic activity in the country.
The CTA says that the reopening of the beaches and the resumption of unrestricted business hours will give "fresh air" to the enterprises and bring "hope for a gradual resumption of activities," reads a note published on the confederation's website.
"This decision by the President of the Republic comes to motivate the recovery of the tourism sector," stressed the CTA.
The main Mozambican beaches had been banned since October 6 to prevent clusters spreading covid-19, a measure contested by the CTA, which considered it "an obstacle to the resumption of tourism."
In the note, the Mozambican businessmen advanced that they will continue with actions, aiming to strengthen the sector, referring that the easing of restrictions results from "a good dialogue" between the tourism department and the Government.
Recall that last Wednesday, the Mozambican President, Filipe Nyusi, eased the prevention restrictions of covid-19, having, among others, reduced the number of days of mandatory home quarantine from 14 to seven.
At the moment Mozambique has a cumulative total of 2,146 deaths and 221,432 covid-19 cases, of which 196,850 have been recovered and 131 hospitalized.
