Council of Ministers redefines port jurisdiction areas

The Council of Ministers approved this Tuesday a decree-law that redefines several areas of port jurisdiction to accommodate the demand for investors, announced the body's spokesman, Filimão Suaze.

The decree adjusts the jurisdiction areas of Mocímboa da Praia, Ilha de Moçambique and Lumbo, Quelimane, Nacala, Beira, Inhambane, Maputo and Matola and creates the areas of Metangula, Angoche, Pebane and Chinde.

"These are sites of higher incidence of applications for investment," the spokesman explained.

The document is justified by the "logistics" related to "economic development projects along the national territory" and "international port traffic".

The government says it is "sensitive" to the "need to better accommodate the demand" made by Mozambican projects and those from other countries, as well as mixed capital.
