Train traffic again disrupted in the south of the country

Circulação de comboios novamente interrompida na região sul do País

Passenger and freight trains in the south of the country are once again disrupted. The problem is that the train tracks have been buried due to the heavy rains in Maputo province and city since last Friday.

According to the Executive Director of the company Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique in the Southern Region (CFM-Sul), Emídio Bata, technical teams are currently on the ground to solve the problems caused by the heavy rain on the three lines that make up the railway system.

"Everything is being done so that this Tuesday, passenger trains will be running smoothly again," said the official, quoted by the Radio Mozambique.

However, Emídio Bata said that the frequent stoppage of trains in the south of the country is partly the result of informal settlements along the railway lines.
