The Constitutional Council has just validated the results of the seventh general elections in which Daniel Chapo and the Frelimo party were the winners. 

According to the data released by the Constitutional Council, Daniel Chapo won with 65% of votes, Venâncio Mondlane came second with 24,19% of votes, Ossufo Momade came third with 6,62% and lastly Lutero Simango with 4,02% of votes.

"The Constitutional Council has formed its firm conviction that the irregularities found during the electoral process did not substantially influence the results of the general, presidential and legislative elections, and of the provincial assemblies held throughout the national territory and in the diaspora," said Lúcia Ribeiro, president of the Constitutional Council, during the ceremony to validate the results on Monday afternoon.
