South African singer Zahara dies at 35

After more than two weeks battling liver complications, South African singer Zahara (real name Bulelwa Mkutukana) lost her life at the age of 35 in a private hospital in Johannesburg this Monday night, shortly before 9pm.

Zahara was admitted to hospital last month after falling ill. At the time, the South African press reported that the singer had been transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU).

Her family, as well as her manager, Oyama Dyobisa, released a statement on November 27, confirming that she was hospitalized and asking for privacy and prayers for her speedy recovery.
