Caifadine Manasse won't give up the fight against his comrades

Caifadine Manasse não desiste da luta contra os seus camaradas

Caifadine Manasse, a Frelimo MP and former spokesman for the party, is continuing his legal battle against his "comrades".

Through his lawyer Custódio Duma, on March 26, 2024, the MP submitted a request for information to the Attorney General's Office (PGR) about the criminal complaint of January 9, 2024, against Hélder Injonjo and Gregório Gonçalves, members of the Assembly of the Republic, and Salomão Moyana, a journalist, asking for the section, case number and magistrates handling the case.

The request for information stems from the fact that Caifadine Manasse believes that the lack of this information seriously affects confidence in the proceedings at the OPG. However, a copy of the order issued by Supreme Court Judge João Baptista Beirão on March 27 shows that the case is being processed.

"For all due purposes, I have the honor to transcribe to Your Excellency the learned order issued by the Venerable Judge-Rapporteur, on page 37 of the Preparatory Instruction file registered under No. 01/2024-IP, in which the Public Prosecutor's Office is the Plaintiff and Caifadine Paulo Manasse is the Plaintiff, with the following content: as shown on page 35. The tax due is charged," reads the copy, quoted by the newspaper. Open VisionThis week's edition.

Caifadine Manasse accuses Hélder Injonjo, Gregório Gonçalves and Salomão Moyana of defamation. This is an autonomous case. Another case is underway at the PGR against 23 MPs from the constituency of Zambézia province, one of whom (Damião José) has already been formally charged with slander and defamation.

Manasse accuses the MPs of associating him with the accusation that Hélder Injonjo is a "drug lord" following the seizure of drugs at the Port of Macuse, in Zambézia province.

This is the first time in Frelimo's history that an MP has taken his peers from the same constituency to court.

Recently, Frelimo spokeswoman Ludmila Maguni said that the Frelimo party had tried unsuccessfully to bring the parties together. And that, at the moment, nothing can be done because the matter is in the hands of the courts.
