The President of Botswana, Duma Boko, on Saturday (29) expressed his interest in strengthening bilateral, lasting and sustainable cooperation with Mozambique in the areas of energy generation, transmission and distribution for both countries..
Speaking during a visit to the Maputo Thermoelectric Power Plant (CTM), in the company of the Minister of Transport and Logistics, João Matlombe, the President of Botswana said that both countries are making efforts to ensure that both peoples (Mozambicans and Tswana) have full access to energy.
"What is also more important and impressive is the fact that 40% of the workforce is made up of women and young people trained in science and technology. This is an inspiration and ambition for us to have parity," said Duma Boko.
The plant, a gift from the Japanese government, has a production capacity of 106 megawatts.
"I am very grateful to have visited this plant and it serves as a permanent inspiration, also Botswana is working on a 300 megawatt coal and methane gas power plant. The level of technical skills that are on display are an inspiration to Botswana," added the Botswana Head of State, as quoted by the Botswana Times. AIM.
