BNI without cash to meet all funding requests

The National Investment Bank (BNI) is short of funds to respond to the funding requests coming into the institution.

In all, the Bank received requests for financing valued at about 11 billion meticais, and was only able to disburse 1.6 billion meticais.

The president of BNI's Executive Committee, Tomás Matola, informed that the financing lines were created with amounts injected by the government and with loans obtained from the National Institute of Social Security (INSS).

Matola was speaking this Tuesday in Maputo, during a meeting that the executive commission of BNI held with the parliamentary commission for Planning and Budget.

For his part, the president of the Planning and Budget Commission, António Niquice, recognized the BNI's effort to support small and medium-sized enterprises.

It should be noted that BNI is a Development and Investment bank, created by the State, to finance sustainable projects and to contribute to the growth of the national economy.
