Access Bank donates mattresses to HCM oncology

Access Bank doa colchões à oncologia do HCM

With the aim of providing greater comfort to patients admitted to the oncology ward of Maputo Central Hospital, Access Bank Mozambique donated a consignment of mattresses to the institution on Tuesday, January 17.

The action, which falls within the scope of the Bank's Social Responsibility, was carried out in coordination with the Casa Rosa Association, a non-profit organization that supports cancer patients, which in particular helped the Bank to identify the main needs to be met in that ward.

In the same context, the bank also offered 1 year of pay-TV to that clinical service, so that patients can continue to benefit from television content and can stay informed and have access to some entertainment.

This is the second year that Access Bank has provided support to the oncology department, including the payment of television packages, at the country's largest hospital.

The delivery of the donations was presided over by the director of the Legal Department of Access Bank Mozambique, Sidónio Barata, who, on the occasion, said that "the bank continues to be attentive to the needs of Mozambicans in various areas", and that "the area of health has deserved special attention from the institution".

"Of course we won't bring the comfort of home to the hospital, but we want to be close to it and in this way contribute to the patients' recovery," he said.

It should be noted that the country registers around 3,000 cases of cancer every year. The HCM treats around 10 new cases a month.

Access Bank Mozambique remains attentive to the needs of that hospital, especially the oncology department. In 2021, the bank donated household appliances (fridge, microwave, TV) and a TV kit to the same hospital.

With this action, Access Bank is reinforcing its commitment to Mozambique and Mozambicans, positioning itself as a bank of solidarity and contributing to the well-being of all.
