“Falta de certificação dificulta PME de entrarem na mineração e energia” – Osvaldo Maúte

The Association of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (APME) pointed to the lack of certification and financial capacity as an impediment to more robust use of the opportunities in the energy and mining sectors in Mozambique.

The president of APME, Osvaldo Maúte, pointed out the obstacles that small and medium-sized companies face in capitalizing on the potential available in energy and mining, speaking on the occasion of the signing of a strategic partnership agreement with AME Mozambique, a consultancy and promoter of the International Mining and Energy Conference (MMEC), an event that this year will be its 11th edition.

"One of the challenges for small and medium-sized companies has to do with certification. We've been working with partners to provide training that meets the demands of the big projects in the mining and energy sector," said Osvaldo Maúte, quoted by the newspaper. Savannah newspaperHe also pointed to the issue of decapitalization, since these types of projects require large resources.

"We are committed to mobilizing financing that can enable micro, small and medium-sized enterprises to leverage their resources," he added.

For his part, Calisto Baquete, representing AME, defended the need to support SMEs in order to allow this business segment to increase its contribution to job creation, revenue generation and the country's social and economic development.

"AME has been concerned with bringing SMEs together on this business platform, which is MMEC, for about seven or eight years now," said Baquete.

The conference will take place on 7 and 8 May in the city of Maputo, under the slogan "Investing in a new era: Transforming Mozambique's natural resources to stimulate industrialization and regional integration".
