The European Union (EU) yesterday (13) expressed its readiness to provide all the necessary support for the implementation of the activities carried out by the Office of Reforms and Strategic Projects (GRPE), the entity implementing the Mozambican government's agenda towards economic independence..
In a brief contact with the press a few minutes after the meeting with GRPE's executive coordinator, João Machatine, the EU Ambassador to Mozambique, Antonino Maggiore, said that the EU's support comes in consideration of the importance of the reforms in the country, despite recognizing that they are challenging.
"We are ready to support the functioning, the work of the cabinet, and we are ready to support the reform program. I can confirm that the European Union and the member states are ready to work with the cabinet to move forward with concrete reforms across the country," said Antonino Maggiore.
During the meeting, Maggiore, quoted by AIMHe told Machatine that the EU wants to work with Mozambique for all Mozambicans, mentioning the implementation of the Commitment to Inclusive National Dialogue, signed at the beginning of March in Maputo.
"As I said to the coordinator, the point is that the European Union, the [EU] member states want to work with Mozambique for Mozambique," he stressed.
Created last February, the new GRPE advises the President of the Republic on the implementation of economic and social reforms to meet the demands of the population.
