Nampula government signs agreement to set up industrial parks

Governo de Nampula assina acordo para instalação de parques industriais

The province of Nampula, in northern Mozambique, on Wednesday (26) began the process of setting up industrial parks through an initiative called Nampula Parks.

In fact, the Nampula Provincial Executive Council, through governor Eduardo Abdula, signed a memorandum of understanding with Moz Parks, represented by its general manager, Onório Manuel, to make the initiative a reality.

Quoted by the portal IkweliAbdula revealed that the signing of the memorandum of understanding represents an important step towards making it possible to set up industrial parks in all the districts of the province.

"We invite all businesspeople in Nampula province to join in this initiative, which involves various sectors of activity and each industrial park created will be the foundation for the development of companies and will allow the creation of ten times as many jobs as the company itself creates, thereby multiplying the economic tax and ensuring that more young people in our province can have access to new job market opportunities," said the governor.

He also recalled that the creation of industrial parks "is fundamental for the emergence of more and better job opportunities for young people in Nampula province".

On the occasion, the general manager of Moz Parks noted that the initiative will generate more jobs for the communities so as not to rely solely on donations.

"We're going to create jobs in the communities, the conflict that often exists between large projects and the community stems from the fact that they don't benefit. Our approach is to coordinate and within five years we'll have over five thousand workers in the Topuito industrial park, based on the production of parts," concluded Onório Manuel.
