The post-election situation in Mozambique and terrorism in Cabo Delgado are central topics of debate today at the National Defense and Security Council (CNDS) convened by the President of the Republic.
"We suggest for this meeting a post-election political reflection or evaluation of the country. We're going to create conditions to reflect on the fight against terrorism in the north," said Filipe Nyusi.
The CNDS or Council of State is a body that brings together entities from the country's key institutions, as well as figures of capital importance to the country.
Meanwhile, this convocation saw the absence of figures such as Graça Machel - a senior member of Frelimo and first lady of independent Mozambique; and Alberto Chipande - a senior member of the Frelimo party.
The country's former presidents, Joaquim Chissano and Armando Guebuza, attended the meeting. The leader of the second most voted party, Ossufo Momade, is also taking part in the event.
An outline of the debate could be released later this afternoon.
