The Mozambican state airline, Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM), is negotiating with the American aircraft manufacturer, Boeing, for the reimbursement of 23 million dollars paid for the purchase of a plane it never received.
The information was given at the latest press conference called by Fly Modern Ark (FAM) to present the results of the first three months of LAM's restructuring.
According to LAM's Project and Restructuring Manager, Sérgio Matos, this reimbursement will be used to pay off the Mozambican operator's debts.
FAM is restructuring LAM's debt, which at the time of its intervention was around 300 million dollars.
By the time of the press conference, according to Matos, LAM had paid 61.1 million dollars, which took the company out of insolvency.
However, financial problems still plague the Mozambican airline. As a result, on August 31, the airline Moçambique Expresso (Mex) closed its doors. Mex said that LAM had only paid 200,000 dollars for flight services, carried out with three aircraft, and various ground services.

The FMA says it has managed to get LAM to comply with the fleet maintenance requirements imposed by international regulations and the cost containment inherent in this service.
