Mozambique no longer requires a vaccination certificate and covid-19 test upon entry into the country

Moçambique deixa de exigir certificado de vacina e teste à covid-19 à entrada no país

The government has removed the requirement for a vaccination certificate and a negative covid-19 test for foreigners wishing to enter the country, as part of easing the restrictions imposed by the pandemic and boosting tourism.

The spokesman for the Council of Ministers, Filimão Suaze, also said that the rapid covid-19 test will no longer be required on entry into the country for travelers who do not present a vaccination certificate. In addition, isolation will no longer be mandatory for people who test positive for Covid-19. People who enter the country with symptoms of covid-19 will also no longer be required to take the test.

"The easing of restrictions imposed by the pandemic is an international trend and aims to boost tourism," said the spokesman for the Mozambican Council of Ministers.

When entering Mozambique, children up to the age of 11 are exempt from presenting a negative test for covid-19 or a full vaccination certificate.

According to Suaze, quoted by Notícias, the application of these measures is an international trend to boost tourism with the movement of people, but they also follow on from the positive effects of the vaccination and disease prevention campaigns.

He clarified, however, that the country remains attentive to the evolution of the disease and remains cautious about relaxing the measures, which is why the Executive has not revoked the entire decree. Depending on the circumstances, further measures will be eased or reinforced.
