Moza Banco proceeded this Tuesday with the delivery of agricultural seeds to associations of small farmers operating in several districts in Gaza province. The bank also donated sets of sheets and blankets to underprivileged children with motor difficulties.
The act fits in the Bank's Social Responsibility Policy, which has one of its main focuses on developing activities that contribute to the economic and social progress of the communities where the Bank operates.
Of the seeds donated, the highlight goes to corn, lettuce, onions, cabbage, soybeans, and cowpeas. The farmers were satisfied with the initiative, "thank you very much to Moza Banco for this offer, we didn't expect it, the seeds we received will help us in our production, not only for family food, but also for commerce" said Maria Joana representing the farmers.
In his turn, the president of the Executive Committee of Moza Banco, Manuel Soares, said that Moza Banco assumes itself as a Bank of Mozambicans for Mozambicans, and is committed to actively contributing to the inclusive socio-economic development of the country.
"It is within this vision and positioning, and recognizing the government's commitment to the agricultural sector given the enormous potential in the province, that we are ready to support this sector by offering various seeds to local farmers, including beans, corn, onions, lettuce and carrots, to boost agricultural production," said Soares, quoted in the statement from the bank.
"We hope with this support, to contribute to promote food self-sufficiency and improve the income generation capacity of these farmers," he added.
The Secretary of State of Gaza, Amosse Macamo welcomed the initiative of Moza Banco, saying that "this offer is welcome, we believe that it will alleviate the suffering of those in need. At this moment it is raining, and with these seeds the hope of production is revived, not only for food security, but also to guarantee income.
We are also grateful for the bedding material offered to the nursery school. This is a place that we have always given special attention because we have orphan children there who need everything, and with this help they didn't feel alone.
It should be noted that recently in Nampula, Moza Banco donated various food products to the victims of cyclones Gombe and ANA; in Sofala the bank supported PRM with construction material to improve the infrastructure of the 8th Manga police station in the city of Beira; in Manica Moza offered medicines to the provincial hospital of Lichinga.
