The special representative of the President of Russia for the Middle East and Africa, Mikhail Bogdanov, said that his country intends to enter the hydrocarbon exploration market in Mozambique, and that work is already underway on the ground for this purpose.
The response follows an invitation weeks ago by the Mozambican government for Russian companies to be part of the hydrocarbon tender that will be launched in December this year.
Bogdanov, who was speaking on Tuesday after a meeting with Prime Minister Carlos Agostinho de Rosário, also expressed willingness to help Mozambique in the fight against terrorism in Cabo Delgado province. He said that his country has experience in fighting terrorism and could transmit it to Mozambique.
"We have a practice of cooperation with different countries in the security sphere and it can be at different levels, namely, exchange of information that can prevent possible attacks, military capacity building of the cadres of the defense ministry and interior ministry," he said.
The Russian Ruler also said that cooperation between African countries in combating terrorism is important, however, it must be in line with international law.
