WhatsApp announced on Monday the launch of a new privacy feature that allows you to lock and hide conversations.

According to the publication of this instant messaging application, with the 'Chat lock' option, it is possible to remove a conversation from the inbox, placing it in a hidden folder that can only be accessed with the device's password or biometric data, such as the fingerprint.

"We think this feature will be great for people who share their phones from time to time with a family member or for those times when someone has their phone at the exact moment when a notification pops up about a more special conversation," reads the blog of the app, which is owned by Meta, which also owns Facebook and Instagram.

The tool also allows you to hide notifications from a particular contact or group.

In the coming months, WhatsApp promises to add more options to this feature, such as "locking on extra devices and a personalized password", different from the one you use to unlock your phone.
