Mozambican beach volleyball duo Vanessa Muianga and Ana Paula Sinaportar won the silver medal for Mozambique at the Accra 2023 African Games yesterday (14), after losing 2-1 (21-11, 17-21 and 9-15) in the final against Egypt's Marwa and Doaa.

In a final in which they started the fight for gold well, the Egyptian women evened things up in the second set, when everything seemed to be going well for the Mozambicans, who were ahead for a while.

But they missed the target several times, putting balls out of play and defending poorly at crucial moments. Even though they played well, they didn't have the same clarity as their opponents when it came to finishing during the second set, which was well won by the Egyptians, who also exploited their height advantage over the Mozambicans to achieve their feats.

According to the newspaper ChallengeThe tie-break set was lost on tactical detail and finishing. Vanessa and Ana Paula started the first set ahead. But halfway through they gave up the lead and when the Egyptians took the lead, they didn't let go, setting the final score at 1-2.

In the matches for third place, Botswana and Nigeria beat Sierra Leone and Rwanda 2-0 in the men's and women's teams respectively.
