Politician Venâncio Mondlane, who has been leading the post-election demonstrations in Mozambique since October 21, 2024, could suspend the demonstrations for the next three months.
"These typical street demonstrations, with roadblocks and placards, will in principle be suspended in the next three months," he said in an interview with Portuguese broadcasters, before announcing today his governance measures for the next 100 days.
According to Mondlane, some current conditions will prevail, such as the case of toll charges, meaning that for the next few months, no tolls will be charged.
He said that the resumption of demonstrations on the model of paralyzing all work activities will depend on the effectiveness of the governance measures to be announced this Friday.
"What will determine whether we resume these kinds of demonstrations is whether the measures we announce, which are beneficial to the people, will be carried out or not," he noted.
He said, on the other hand, that the "duplication" of "Shadow Government" governments that Mozambique may witness is not This is a new phenomenon in the world, considering that there have already been several, for example in Portugal. In fact, he said that he was inspired by cases in Portugal to form his "Shadow Government".
"Naturally, we're going to perform in a way that will be surprising, unprecedented and never seen before," he said.
