The Council of the European Union will provide 40 million euros to support the military training mission in Mozambique. The support aims to assist the Mozambican military units trained by the EU training mission in Mozambique (EUTM Mozambique).
This aid, granted under the European Peace Facility, and complementing previous financial assistance of 4 million euros approved last July for the most urgently needed equipment, will also enable Mozambican forces to conduct security operations in Cabo Delgado province.
"The assistance measure will, in particular, provide adequate non-lethal equipment to strengthen the capabilities of the first Mozambican military forces to benefit from EUTM Mozambique training. This includes individual and collective equipment, land mobility assets, technical tools and a field hospital," the EU specifies in a statement.
According to the European Union, the assistance measure will cover part of the duration of the EUTM's mandate.
