Trade between Mozambique and Portugal has fallen in the last decade

Trocas comerciais entre Moçambique e Portugal caíram na última década

The vice-president of the Confederation of Economic Associations (CTA), Maria Abdula, revealed recently in Maputo that trade in products between Mozambique and Portugal has fallen over the last decade.

"Ten years ago, Portuguese companies exported just over 100 million dollars to Portugal, around five times more than the current figure," he said, noting that the same trend is being seen in imports. "They've halved".

Despite the two countries' efforts to expand business opportunities, the drop in trade was due to the domestic and foreign situation.

She was speaking in Maputo about the preparation of a business mission of 80 entrepreneurs, which is expected to establish business partnerships in the cities of Lisbon and Porto in Portugal.

On that occasion, he lamented the occurrence of kidnappings and abductions in Mozambican cities, which have already caused investors to flee and put around 10,000 workers out of work.
