The country's recent economic growth makes it necessary to transform the Administrative Court (TA), as a way of continuing to ensure control of public accounts.
The idea was defended last week in Maputo by the president of the TA, Lúcia Maximiano do Amaral, at the launch ceremony for Legality Week, which will take place on November 5.
In a NewsDo Amaral justified his position by explaining that, with the start of the exploitation of the country's natural resources, economic development has been positive.
According to the source, this growth requires a reform of the TA, which must move towards specialization and autonomy. This step should be accompanied by a change to a Court of Auditors or Auditor General.
Lúcia Maximiano do Amaral said that courts still need to be set up, starting with those that fall under the jurisdiction of the Administrative Court, in order to respond to the current demand for services.
"At such an important moment for the development of legality in our country, we wanted to reaffirm our commitment as an Administrative Court to fulfill our constitutional and legal mission with ethics, transparency and technical rigor," she said.
He also added that Legality Week should "inspire us to continue to defend more firmly a system of justice based, among other principles, on the rigorous control of public money and values as a sustainable basis for the accountability that should guide the functioning of modern public administration, which is increasingly accessible to all citizens".
Legality Week, which will run from October 30 to November 5 this year, will be filled with a series of activities at central and provincial level.
The event was attended by a number of individuals, including the President of the Supreme Court, representatives of the Attorney General's Office, and other guests.
