The President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), Filipe Nyusi, announced early last night (14), in the city of Pemba, Cabo Delgado, the taking of the Katupa base, in Macomia, considered one of the most strategic of the insurgents after Sire 1 and 2.

Speaking to journalists moments after guiding an extraordinary joint session of the State Representation Services and the Provincial Executive Council, Nyusi stressed that more operations are continuing involving the DSF assisted by allied forces from SADC and Rwanda, with a view to consolidating the territory.

According to the Chief of the State Defense Forces, some sporadic attacks by terrorists are the result of terrorists fleeing from the tightening of the siege by the Armed Defense Forces of Mozambique and allies.
