TAP admits to cancel 322 flights until December 31

TAP admitted today that it may cancel, on average, up to seven flights a day, from November 15 until December 31, totaling around 322 flights, due to a readjustment of the winter operation, with passengers being placed on alternative flights.

In a statement, the airline informed about the change to the winter operation, which "will start to apply from November 15 until December 31, with the possibility of canceling up to seven flights a day, on average, on routes with lower occupancy and for which there are several alternatives available on the TAP network or on partner airlines".

This measure, he explained, was caused by the combination of several constraints, including the switch to the Top Sky navigation system in Lisbon, the migration of the air traffic control system in Marseille, the absenteeism expected over the Christmas period and the end of the year, and the fact that it was not possible to return a plane from Guinea-Conakry.

"Passengers affected by the canceled flights will be informed directly and in a timely manner by TAP, with an indication of the alternative travel solution," said the carrier.

In addition, TAP said it will extend the ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance) external services contract with Air Bulgaria, "to avoid the cancellation of additional flights and keep the operation at maximum capacity".

"TAP apologizes in advance to the passengers affected, knowing the importance that the Christmas season has for all its customers, and is making efforts to ensure that everyone can make the trips they have planned without setbacks," the airline added.
