Standard Bank already has a new CEO

Standard Bank announced this Thursday the appointment of William le Roux as interim chief executive officer (CEO), effective immediately, after approval by the Bank of Mozambique.

"He is a very competent professional with extensive experience in the banking sector, having previously worked in financial institutions in several countries on the African continent, including Malawi, where he held, until recently, the position of CEO at Standard Bank PLC," says a statement quoted by "O País".

William Le Roux has 42 years of experience in banking and has served as Chairman of the Board of Liberty Seguros.

He has a degree in Commerce, Accounting and Business Management from the University of South Africa (UNISA) and is excited by the new challenge of continuing to serve customers with excellence and consolidate the top place that Standard Bank has in Mozambique, as a solid and robust institution.

According to the statement, Standard Bank reaffirms that it is committed to the rigorous governance and compliance processes in place at the bank, and thanks the bank for all of its support throughout this process.
